In 2024, we had the pleasure of assisting Phil in bringing his book SHINE to life through self-publishing. As part of celebrating the release of his book, Phil shared some of his insights and experience in an author interview.
The Interview
Q: What inspired you to write your book?
To a greater or lesser extent, our work defines who we are. For many people, their workplace is dull and there is a lack of dignity in the employment relationship. I was inspired to write SHINE to encourage leaders to build companies that shine and never lose their luster. This is done by creating “worthy and worthwhile” work, engaging in dialogue highlighting this, and placing human dignity firmly at the core of the employment relationship.
Q: What Was Your Favourite Part of Publishing Your Book?
My favourite part of publishing this book was working with Aimèe and the editors who patiently but firmly helped me clarify my thinking and explanations to end up with a published book, that I am proud of.
Q: What Advice Would You Give an Author Planning to Publish Their First Book?
My advice to anyone planning to publish their first book is to get the manuscript written and to engage Staging Post to help them bring the publication to fruition.
